Leadership and Management
Varetta W. Wright, President of Sovana Global Logistics brings 26 years of leadership, team building and program management. She has led teams and offices of 30-40 people which included all of their internal and external support from payroll to human services …. She has overall responsibility for the business plan, vision, strategic plan and financial planning and oversight for SGL. <See Leadership Biographic Snapshots>.
Jamie Loewendick General Manager has over 20 years experience with several major freight forwarders . Her responsibilities include freight operations, oversight of warehouse activities, and driving the sales and marketing effort. She has years of successful performance in each of those areas. Over the course of her career she has handled perishables, dry freight, temperature sensitive freight, oversized freight, dangerous goods (hazmat) and bio-medical goods. She has also been the COO of a company with over 8 million dollars annual revenue and has deftly handled all of the associated administrative functions from human resources to facilities to finance. She is adept at managing all aspects of a small business.
Jilmar Rodriguez is our International Operations Manager with over 20 years of experience in international freight forwarding and logistics. He is adept at finding creative and out of the box solutions in getting freight to hard to reach distance locations. He has previously worked for several small forwarding companies and one large company. His depth of knowledge and creativity in quotes and routing is his hallmark.
Shannon Aikens is our Domestic Operations Manager with over ten years of experience in domestic air and ground shipping and express consignments. Over the course of her career she has been praised for her attention to detail, dogged determination to get the best rates and routing, and customer satisfaction. She has experience in researching and accurately preparing the various shipping documents to include AES, ITAR, EAR, and dangerous goods/hazardous material declarations. She is certified in Air Transport Dangerous Goods Training.
Doria “Dori” Miles is our Compliance Officer and Project Coordinator for several projects. She has over 15 years working in transportation, logistics and customer service industries. She has experience in both domestic and international air freight as well as coordination of some international ocean shipments. She is the SGL Export Controls professional and provides our customers with a second set of eyes for international ITAR/EAR shipments. She is also the primary author of SGL’s input to written proposals.
Logistics and Warehousing Staff
William “Bill” Loewendick, Director of Logistics has over 18 years experience in warehousing, transportation and freight forwarding. Over the course of his career he was the owner/managing partner of a successful trucking company and adept at dispatching, load management and quality control (timeliness of delivery). As an account manager for a freight forwarder he personally led a team of warehouse and operations personnel in successfully servicing two multi-million dollar accounts. He was responsible for receiving, validation, inventory, storage, packing and shipping of various types of cargo on behalf of the customer. He was also lauded for the frequency of his communications with customers as well as his timely reporting of data.
Brianne Cook is a Logistics Specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and is Dangerous Goods Certified. Her previous employment was in the customer service sector and she brings enthusiasm and commitment to the Sovana Team.
James “Jim” Valley is our Senior Warehouse Manager and has over 20 years experience in logistics and warehouse operations. He also heads our packing and crating services. He possesses several certifications including Dangerous Goods certification and is a TSA Certified Cargo Screener.
Alan Gleason is our Warehouse Specialist and provides our customers with care and attention to detail in handling their freight. He is a TSA Certified Cargo Screener and apprentice crater.
General Support Staff
James “Jim” Wright, Senior Advisor, brings over 35 years of business planning, strategic planning and plan execution to the Sovana Senior staff.
Linda Davidson is our Accountant and Human Resources Specialist. She holds a Masters in accounting and has handled finance, accounting and budgeting responsibilities for several small companies and brings over 25 years of experience to the Sovana staff.
